John was not a St. Mel High School graduate, he attended St. Ignatius High School, but preferred to pal around with the Class of 1957 guys on the West Side. After nearly, 50 years, a dear Friend, John DiBuono called me to share the sad news that John was dying of terminal stomach cancer, and would not have many days left in April, 2011...Barbara Ann and I were touched so deeply by John and Nancy's struggle to raise their two sons into manhood, that we reconnected with John by telephone in March, he died 13 April 2011 with a firm conviction in the Promises of Christ, and eternal life. What a wonderful example for all of us, John Sugrue has been influenced by many who will never know him in person...Truly, Saints do walk amongst us in this life.
